As all eyes look to the sky in anticipation of the first rains after the heat of October, we can hardly believe it is time to start getting ready for the end of season. What an amazing 7 months we have had in camp: amazing wildlife sightings all season, fantastic guests, a few challenges along the way but we shall all take home good memories from the 2010 season. Looking forward to 2011 we are pleased to anounce that we have Nicci and Alan Bonella rejoining us as camp managers. We are hoping to have our suite 1 outdoor shower completed for the start of the new 2011 season and we will be doing a bit of renovating around camp after the rainy season.

Where have the days gone this month? We are on the home stretch now and things are slowly winding down for the close of camp on 15th November. Another fully booked week in camp and guests have had great wildlife sightings of lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and zebra just to name a few. The heat has now settled into the valley and hot afternoons are followed by warm evenings and mornings, which means good fishing for our keen anglers.

Camp life is definately busy and the weather is warming up. Its magical to wake up to a cool morning and breakfast on the deck while you watch the sunrise over the river and hear the call of a pair of fisheagles. The fish have definately decided to come out and show our guests what fishing on the Zambezi River is all about with an 11pound and 12pound tigerfish caught within the space of a day, the Vundu have also been giving our clients a work out with some large (40+pound) specimens being caught. With the warmer weather "water lunch" has really become a treat- being able to sit with your feet in the water as you enjoy lunch from the sandbank with elephant in the background.

Love is definitely in the air at Sausage Tree Camp this month, with 2 guests getting engaged on 2nd August and now 2 guests getting married today! Congratulations go out to both of the happy couples and we wish them every happiness for their future together. We have a full camp at the moment and guests have been enjoying excellent fishing and game viewing. Arriving into camp yesterday we were fortunate enough to witness a heard of elephants swimming across one of the channels just near camp.

There have been leopard sightings in and around camp with a female leopard and her cub found on a night drive and a solitary leopard spotted in camp between Tent 1 and Kigelia House. Our resident Elephant are back in camp and can be seen swimming out to the islands in front of camp to graze. The 4 lioness and their 6 cubs are still around and the resident male lions of the pride have been sighted too. There has also been a recent discovery of 3 new lion cubs.
